The Freight Factoring Rate Index

Advertised rate against reported rate, across every factor we track. Published monthly. Where we lack a primary source, the cell stays blank.

Every other rate comparison in this category republishes advertised rates. An advertised rate is a marketing artefact — the best case, for the largest carrier, on the cleanest paperwork. This index tracks two numbers per company: what they publish, and what operators report actually being quoted.

Collection status — read this before using the table

Advertised terms were read from each company's own published pages on 2026-07-29, and every populated cell carries a source link and date. 20 of 34 companies publish at least one verifiable term; six publish an actual rate figure. A blank cell means the company does not publish that term. The typical 1–3 truck rate column is built from written quotes contributed by operators and fills monthly — if you have a current quote, send it. Contributed quotes are anonymised before publication.

24 of 34 companies publish at least one verifiable term. Everything shown was read from the company's own pages on 2026-07-29 — hover a Sourced tag for the exact page. “Publishes nothing” means exactly that: the company puts no rate, advance, recourse or contract term in writing publicly. In this market that is the norm rather than the exception, and it is the reason a comparison table cannot pick your factor on its own. How collection works →

How to read this

Take any published figure as a benchmark, not as your quote. Rates in this market are set per carrier and move on volume, customer mix, contract length and whether you have a competing offer in writing. The most useful thing this table does is tell you when a quote is out of line with what the market publishes.

Three cell states appear, and they mean different things:

  • A value — read from the company's own site, with source and date on the row.
  • Not published — the company does not put that term in writing publicly.
  • Collecting quotes — the operator-reported column, which does not come from marketing pages.

Why the advertised-versus-actual gap is the interesting number

Advertised rates cluster tightly. Quoted rates do not. The spread between them is where the real information about a factor sits, and nobody in this category publishes it — including the sites that rank first for rate queries, several of which run paid featured partners in the top slot.

That gap is what this index is being built to measure. It requires quotes, which requires operators sending them in, which is why the contribution ask is genuine rather than decorative. As the quote column fills, the delta per company gets published alongside it.

Methodology

  • Advertised terms come from the company's own published material, with URL and date recorded on each row.
  • Reported terms come from written quotes obtained directly or contributed by operators, specified for a 1–3 truck or comparable small operation.
  • Nothing is estimated. We do not interpolate, average or infer a figure. A blank cell is information; a guessed cell is noise.
  • No paid placement. Position in this table is never for sale. If a company asks us to change its position, we publish the request.
  • Re-verified monthly. Stale figures carry their collection date.

Using this in a negotiation

Three things move a quote in this market, in order of effect: a competing written offer, your invoice volume, and your customers' credit quality. Nothing else reliably does.

Get two quotes in writing before you negotiate either. Then ask each factor the same specific question — not "can you do better", which invites a token concession, but "here is a competing offer at these terms; can you match the advance rate and the notice period?" Terms other than the headline rate are frequently easier to move, and often worth more.

Frequently asked

What are current freight factoring rates?
Advertised rates from companies that publish them appear in the index on this page, each with a source link and the date we read it. Treat any published figure as a benchmark rather than your quote — rates are set per carrier.
Why do factoring companies not publish their rates?
Because rates are set per carrier based on volume, customer credit quality and contract length, and because publishing invites direct price comparison. Fewer than a third of the companies we track publish any rate at all.
How do I negotiate a better factoring rate?
Three things move a quote: a competing written offer, your invoice volume, and your customers' credit quality. Get two quotes in writing first, then ask each to match specific terms rather than asking generally whether they can do better.
How often is this rate index updated?
Monthly. Every populated figure carries the date it was collected, and stale entries are marked rather than silently carried forward.
